Jillian Renee Siefert
Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, relocated to Ohio after earning her BA in Psychology from the University of Dayton. Art has been an intrinsic part of her life since childhood, evolving from doodles in school notebooks to a profound expression of healing and connection. Jillian's art celebrates the beauty of nature and the essence of home. Through vibrant hues and unique patterns, she invites viewers to experience the world through a childlike lens to uncover the beauty and joy in even the most simple moments. Specializing in creating miniature paintings in handmade frames ranging from 1" to 7", she believes that small-scale artwork possesses a unique intimacy, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the intricate details, much like we do when observing the world around us. These tiny treasures serve as reminders of home and cherished memories, celebrating life's precious moments, reminding you that even the smallest gestures can make a big impact.
About my artwork:
Primarily working with traditional gouache paints I approach each painting with the same care and focus as an artist working on a larger scale. I meticulously handmake each frame in small batches using a shatter-resistant clay-based medium and retired confectionary molds. Many of my paintings are intertwined with small, loving memories of my childhood that deserve celebrating; table quilts or doilies made by my grandmothers, wooden tables my grandfather made and fantastical bouquets from the garden. In today’s world we move so incredibly fast and tiny art is my way of sharing that it’s okay to slow down and appreciate the simple beauty of life.
